Dr. Luciano Rossi
Dr. Luciano Rossi has both Brazilian and Italian citizenship. He studied International Relations for 5 years in a Brazilian University, but he followed his passion for helping people to recovery from injuries and pain and achieved a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy at Catholic University, Brazil. There, he learned that the human body is a complex mechanism, and therefore understanding musculoskeletal pathologies requires attention to details. He always focuses on these details and employs evidence-based practices, ensuring that research and science support his plans of care. After bachelor’s degree, He specialized in Exercise Physiology that helps him to understand how human body works during exercises and physical activities.
Exercises are constantly prescribed in order to improve patient’s capacity to move, relieve of pain and to prepare them “to back to the game” as soon as possible. Also, He considers manual therapy techniques essential in the rehabilitation process because it causes neurophysiological effects that reduces pain and helps joints and soft tissues to move better. He has certification in myofascial and trigger points releasing, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), and joint manipulation. Also, he can reduce pain and improve movements through the application of many different types of tapes like Biomechanical, Kinesio Tape, Dynamic tape, and McConnell.
However, he believes that patients suffering of chronic pain need a special attention since that their pain is not only caused by biological factors. Understanding these mechanisms are essential for relieve of pain and a successful treatment.
His large experience in orthopedics and sports rehabilitation includes working at the Brazilian Volleyball National Team (Golden Medal at Beijing 2008 / London 2012 Olympic Games), the Brazilian Judo National team, Trentino Volleyball Club (Italy), Clube Atletico Mineiro (Brazilian first league Soccer Team), Track & Field Competition during 2016 Rio Olympic Games, and many other experiences with PRO ATHLETES all over the World.
