ActiveCare Physical Therapy values education. We promote continuing education of our physical therapists and include education in our patient care. We are a course host facility for the Maitland-Australian Physiotherapy Seminars (MAPS). We have been hosting courses since 2013. Licensed physical therapists are eligible to take MAPS courses to advance their orthopedic manual therapy skills. We have hosted the objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) for therapists looking to adopt the professional designation of Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT).
ActiveCare Physical Therapy is a host facility for continuing medical education. We host onsite courses for the Graston Technique® (GT). Graston Technique® is the original instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) that utilizes medical grade surgical steel in their instruments. They are designed to work with the body’s soft tissues to diagnose and treat soft tissue adhesions. All therapists are trained in the Graston Technique® and are able to effectively assess and treat the soft tissues involved in any condition. This advanced manual therapy is known to help with fluid movement, soft tissue mobility and significant tissue healing of tendons and ligaments.
Physical Therapy can resolve Temporomandibular Disorder but is often overlooked. TMD refers to pain in the jaw joint from tight muscles, poorly aligned teeth or a malaligned spine. We specialize in TMJ (temporomandibular joint) treatment by treating you holistically. Your Physical Therapist will work on your TMJ and the surrounding muscles, addressing spinal alignment and posture to assess its contribution to TMD. Physical Therapy will reduce pain, stiffness and joint dysfunction. We also work with Frederick Stange, DDS in treating patients with TMD.
