Personal Training

a valuable adjunct to physical therapy

Personal training can serve as a valuable adjunct to physical therapy by providing tailored fitness regimens that complement the therapeutic goals set by a physical therapist. While physical therapy often focuses on rehabilitation and recovery from injury or surgery, personal training can help individuals build strength, improve flexibility, and enhance overall fitness once they have reached a stable point in their recovery. Personal trainers can design specific exercise programs that align with the individual’s progress, helping to maintain and further develop the gains achieved through physical therapy.

ongoing motivation and support

Moreover, personal training can offer ongoing motivation and support, which can be crucial for long-term success in maintaining physical health. By working with a personal trainer, individuals can receive personalized guidance and accountability, ensuring that they continue to engage in exercises that promote their well-being and prevent future injuries. This collaborative approach helps bridge the gap between rehabilitative care and functional fitness, facilitating a smoother transition to a healthier lifestyle and supporting sustained physical improvement.

Melissa Kyle

Personal Trainer

Melissa Kyle was born in West Harlem, New York and at the age of 10, moved to Miami, Florida. She trained as a fitness instructor with the Candy Colby’s Fitness Instructor School. In 1991, she attained her Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) certification as a Group Fitness Instructor. In 1995, Melissa attended Miami-Dade Medical Campus with a focus on arts and science, but upon her return to NYC in 1999, she changed tracks. She began her career in medical administration at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University. In 2022, she attained a Bachelor of Arts in Health and Wellness from The University of Arizona Global Campus. She continuously worked in the health and fitness industry during this time and from 2021, became licensed as a Zumba Instructor. In 2023, she attained her National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Personal Trainer certification. Melissa’s application of her training is precise in human physiology and anatomy, biomechanics, fitness training instruction, and client coaching techniques.

Melissa has a keen eye and pays close attention to movement patterns. She uses her corrective exercise skills to improve the client’s performance, mobility, muscular endurance, and muscular balance, as well as to help alleviate pain. This works especially well with injury recovery. Her work in the hospital environment in the sports medicine and wellness departments provided her with even more knowledge and understanding needed in her field of study.

Melissa has loved playing sports ever since she was a little girl. Her favorite subjects were physical education and music class. She played all kinds of sports but thrived at baseball and soccer. Melissa is also a professional singer, dancer, musician, and songwriter. She is also a photographer by trade, an x- fashion model, and choreographer. Melissa is the mother of two adult daughters, both of whom reside in Miami. She is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese and some conversational Italian.

Claudia Godi

BS, Exercise Physiology

Claudia Godi is a Health and Wellness Instructor with over 16 years of experience. She was born in Florence, Italy, where she became a competitive gymnast and then taught gymnastic for several years in the well-known “Ginnastica Poggetto” sport society, Florence Italy. This experience shaped Claudia’s passion for movement. She graduated from the University of Florence (ISEF) with a degree in Physical Education and started working as a personal trainer when it was still an emerging profession in Italy.

In Rome, she ran a post-rehabilitation center under the guidance of Luigi Salvino, an expert postural alignment and back-pain relief physical therapist. During this time, she also expanded her knowledge of movement, studying and practicing GYROTONIC® and The Mézières Method (AIFIMM). She practiced these techniques on her own body,1 learning how to engage her muscles in a different way than learned in her previous physical training and sports backgrounds.

These experiences gave Claudia a new approach to her work: a new way of working out aimed at maintaining proper alignment so that the movement becomes as ergonomic as possible.

Claudia’s perpetual quest for simplicity of movement in training, and a clear understanding of how all the parts of the body are integrated to provide the best results with the least effort, brought her to the creation and development of The Godi Method®. The Godi Method® can help you free your breath from its restrictions as it combines postural alignment with exercise programs. It helps you find an effortless way to move and work out and reduce the muscle aches and pains that you’ve experienced in the past. For more information, please visit www.claudiagodi.com.
