Dr. Karena Wu

DPT, MS, COMT, CSCS, CKTP, CPI, CWcHP

Dr. Karena Wu is owner and Clinical Director of ActiveCare Physical Therapy. She is a native of Los Angeles, California and has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of California at Riverside. She has been practicing physical therapy for 16 years in New York City after she graduated from the Program In Physical Therapy at Columbia University. She received her clinical doctorate in physical therapy from Temple University. She has advanced training in manual therapies, specifically in the Maitland Australian Approach and Myofascial Release. Karena is a Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist, Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Kinesiology Tape Practitioner and Pilates Instructor. She is also LSVT BIG, FMS and SFMA Level 1 Certified.

Karena is a dedicated practitioner who takes a holistic approach to her practice. She actively networks with a team of physicians, chiropractors, acupuncturists and massage therapists. Her patient population consists of professional athletes, dancers, celebrity chefs, Broadway, TV and movie stars, international royalty, high end business professionals, and NYPD/FDNY.

Karena is used as a healthcare expert on CBS, NBC, NY1, PIX11, Verizon Fios, Fox News and Dr. Oz. She is the Director of Education for SpiderTech Kinesiology Tape and is on the Medical Board of the Association of Volleyball Professionals.


Linnet Serrao

PT

Linnet Serrao was born and raised in Andheri (Mumbai), India. She completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy at one of the most prestigious colleges in India, Physiotherapy School and Centre, Seth G.S. Medical College in 2009. She then completed her Masters of Physiotherapy in Musculoskeletal Sciences at All India Institute of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation in Mumbai in 2012.

Linnet is a licensed physiotherapist in New York. She has over 4 years of experience working both in Mumbai and in NYC. She has additional training in Dry Needling, Kinesio Taping, Spine Mobilization and Mat Pilates. Linnet also contributed to a number of pilot studies during her employment at one of the most renowned Mumbai hospitals, Saifee Hospital.

Linnet looks forward to enhancing her expertise and finesse with manual therapies like the Maitland Australian Approach, Myofascial Release and Myofascial Decompression (Cupping). She keeps herself updated with the latest evidenced based practice to bring quality treatment to her patients. She thinks outside the box and likes to be challenged. She is sincere and passionate and hopes that her clinical skills learned in NYC and America will continue to reflect in her care.

Linnet enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to Bollywood music, playing the piano and watching movies.


Dominika Piestrak

PT

Dominika Piestrak originates from Krakow, Poland. She graduated with a Masters in Physical Therapy from Jagiellonian University in Poland. Dominika has lived in multiple cities and worked in numerous areas of expertise in her pursuit of a broad range of training. Her professional career started in Paris in an orthopedic private practice where she was trained in the treatment of Scoliosis (TGS 3D). Dominika then pursued advanced clinical education at Kaiser Permanente hospital in California. She completed a Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Reeducation residency program which focused on patient care post stroke, brain injury, and other neurological conditions.

Dominika's treatment philosophy is guided by an exploration of how a patient's unique body structure/composition is connected to their presenting condition. She combines manual therapy (Maitland, Cyriax and the Mulligan approach) and neuromuscular reeducation with specific therapeutic exercises to help her patients achieve optimal results. Her personalized and holistic approach results in a well-tailored plan for every patient's unique needs.

Dominika resides in New York City where she specializes in orthopedic and sports medicine rehabilitation. She enjoys traveling, exploring New York City, and staying active. Her goals are to attain board specialization in orthopedics and a certificate in orthopedic manual therapy through the Maitland Australian Physiotherapy Seminars.


Chutima Phanpho

PT, MA

Chutima Phanpho is originally from Thailand where she received a Bachelors degree in Physical Therapy from Mahidol University. She recently graduated from New York University with a Masters degree in Pathokinesiology. Before she moved to New York City, she held several positions as a lab assistant, medical textbook illustrator and as a physical therapist in private practice in Bangkok.

Chutima has a passion for raising the quality of life of her clients. Her treatment is based on exercise and integrative manual techniques such as the Maitland Australian Approach, the Mulligan concept, Craniosacral Therapy, Lymphatic drainage therapy, and Visceral and Neural manipulation. Her research study focuses on sports related injuries, specifically in runners. Chutima devotes her time to review cases and find different ways to improve her patients condition.

In her leisure time, Chutima enjoys learning new skills, reading, drawing and meditation. She likes to explore new places and want to experience all of the activities New York City has to offer.


Dr. Kinjal Shah

PT, DPT, COMT

Dr. Kinjal Shah completed her Bachelor of Physical Therapy at the D.Y. Patil College of Physiotherapy in Mumbai, India. She completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Loma Linda University, California. She is also certified in Orthopedic Manual Therapy from Curtin University in Perth, Australia.

Kinjal is licensed in New York and has taken workshops in Maitland, McKenzie and Mulligan mobilization techniques that aid in pain relief, edema control and neuromuscular activation. She also has continued education background in ergonomics.

Kinjal looks forward to enhancing her expertise and finesse with advanced taping applications and manual therapies.
