Apollonia Holzer

BodyWork Therapist

Apollonia Holzer is originally from Austria. She gratuate in social pedagogue and is a certified Life coach of the Life Purpose Institute.

She graduate in Shiatsu in the International school of Shiatsu, got certified in CranioSacral in Institute Upledger, Touch for Health I with Christian Rieder, Pilates in Kelly Kane School of Core Integration, Gyrotonic® in Movement & Beyond and as a dance teacher in Rosalia Chaldeck and Lynn Simonson Technique. Apollonia also completed multiple workshops in anatomie and movement with Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, Irene Dowd, Gil Hedley and Kinesiology with Raphael van Assche.

She also received her training in Systemic Constellation Work in Austria with Siegfried Essen, Insa Sparrer and Matthias Varga von Kibèd, Kristine Alex and Branka Dévicic. Systemic Constellation Work is a very popular effective work which provides answers to different life situations, relationships, emotional and physical issues.

Apollonia practices and teaches over 15 years. Her listening hands and an intuition guides her in finding the best combination of her skills to help her clients find the physical and emotional balance and well being.

Suzanne Hyde

Bodywork Therapist

Suzanne has lived and worked in NYC for over 20 years. She originally received her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering but then decided to switch tracks completely. She attended the Swedish Institute and graduated in 2002 as a licensed massage therapist.

Suzanne combines engineering and analytical thinking with her manual therapies, building on the holistic approach of treating pain in the body. Her work is a blend of the many Western and Eastern techniques she has learned over the years. She finds that this creates a truly effective and holistic experience. She is certified in Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Geriatric Massage and is proficient in many massage modalities including Temporomandibular Joint (jaw) therapy. She is also a certified yoga instructor.

Suzanne graduated from massage therapy school right after the 9/11 attacks. She spent several months volunteering at Ground Zero which cemented the impact touch has on people, both externally and internally.

For three years, Suzanne traveled internationally to experience massage in different cultures. She studied Lomi Lomi in Hawaii, Thai massage in Thailand, Ayurveda in India, healing ceremonies in Indonesia and Sri Lanka and even had a massage tent on the shores of Mozambique. She brings this expansive experience to her work and life back in NYC, where her clients always welcome back her healing hands.

Bethany Harding

Pilates Instructor

Bethany Harding was born and raised in Starkville, Mississippi. She grew up modeling internationally and spent many years traveling abroad. Bethany has chosen New York as her home and has been here for over 10 years. She has managed the well known Ellie Herman Pilates studio in Brooklyn for the last 2 years.

Bethany has always had a love for Pilates and movement. Bethany has done her Pilates training with Ellie Herman. She has completed anatomy and movement workshops with Irene Dowd of Juilliard Dance, Reverend and Doctor of Divinity Fredrick Pearson-Nunez, a Master of Pilates, Rehabilitation, and Eastern Medicine, and Physical Therapist/Master Pilates Trainer Dr. Denise Small. Bethany is currently working towards her Pilates certification and is completing her training hours at ActiveCare Physical Therapy. Her desire to do them here is based on the diversity of clients with post-rehabilitation limitations, relevant medical information incorporated in their Pilates training as well as the well healthy population that can also benefit from this additional training.

Bethany's practice philosophy is grounded in the principles of the Pilates method and the belief that what is most important is not what you do, but how you do it (i.e. precision is everything). Bethany wants to instill in her clients a strong focus on Pilates fundamentals which include: concentration, focus on posture, core musculature and breathing. Her ultimate passion is humanitarian work and she gives her time freely whenever possible. Bethany is kind, caring and patient with a dedication to helping people feel their best and enjoying life to the fullest.

Meghan Frederick

Pilates Instructor

Meghan is a Pilates instructor, dancer, choreographer, and dance teacher based in Brooklyn, New York. Meghan teaches Pilates classes and private sessions for healthy and injured populations as well as pre- and post-natal clients all over New York City. Meghan received her Equipment Pilates Certification from Ellie Herman Pilates in 2011 and has twice completed "Pilates for Special Populations" with Denise Small. Meghan has trained clients at Ellie Herman Pilates (2010-present), Pilates on Cortelyou (2013-2015), April Nicole Studios (2014-2015), and Dynamic Body Pilates (2016- present), and has taught special topics Pilates workshops at Third Root health center, Ellie Herman Pilates, Pilates on Cortelyou, Durango Pilates Connection (CO), and Blue Hill Mountain Studio (ME).

Meghan sees clients in private practice through studio and in-home sessions in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Meghan graduated from Hampshire College with a self-designed degree in dance and cultural studies in 2007. Meghan's classes and private sessions combine her love of anatomy with her love of movement to create sequences that are fun, strengthening, challenging and safe.

Michael Kay

Acupuncturist & Traditional Oriental Medicine Practitioner

Michael Kay is a native of Los Angeles, California, and is a licensed acupuncturist in New York State. He graduated with a Master of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine (MSTOM) from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. Michael practices at ActiveCare Physical Therapy in midtown Manhattan and in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. His practice includes orthopedic conditions, digestive, respiratory, metabolic and immunological disorders and women's health issues.

Michael’s approach is to consider each patient individually, so that treatments are not generic but tailored to his client's presentation. He likes to include body work like tui na or craniosacral therapy into his acupuncture sessions. Cupping and electro-stimulation are also used for enhanced results. Michael's training includes oriental herbs which complement the holistic aspect of his practice.

Michael likes to give back to the community. He has treated patients at the Veterans Affairs Hospital, at NYU Langone Brooklyn (Lutheran Hospital), and at Housing Works in Brooklyn. He volunteers once a year at a clinic in Guatemala and and in a clinic in Harlem treating people with addictions.

Michael practices Qi Gong and swims in his spare time. He lived in Argentina for 10 years. He is fluent in Spanish and grilling on the barbecue, Argentinian style.
